Remy Amador Presas, founder of Modern Arnis, was born on December 19, 1936, in the town of Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, Philippines, the son of Jose B. Presas, and the former Lucia Amador. He began studying arnis with his grandfather Leon Presas and uncle by the age of six, and by the time he was fourteen he was traveling to learn from other instructors . He focused mainly on Balintawak, but he also earned black belt rank in Karate and in Judo.
The Professor brought his art to America in the early 1970's & began to share his love for arnis throughout the country & the rest of the world. He was always integrating & evolving his art to always include the best in Modern self-defense. He continued this love & growth of his art up to his untimely death in 2001.
